A 50 pack of the Nemtek Hybrid Compression Spring 1, the electric fence tensioner spring with a ratchet built in, for new fences and installers who keep stock. Nemtek does not list a 50 pack: this is an Alectra pack of 50 single units, each the same ES-CNT1HBG with the standard 5kg silver spring in stainless steel, tensioned with a 1/4 inch ratchet. One unit per strand does the job of a spring and a tensioner. Need one for a repair? The same unit is sold singly.
How many for a fence?
As a guide, our 6 line kit for 20m carries 12 silver springs and our 8 line kit for 30m carries 20: two per line plus a few spare. On that basis a pack of 50 tensions 25 lines, or one long fence split into more tensioning runs. Count your lines and runs before you order.
Spring and ratchet in one
The wire winds onto a glass filled nylon spindle with a ratchet. Put a 1/4 inch ratchet on it, wind the strand tight and the ratchet holds. The stainless steel spring then maintains constant tension on the fence as the wire expands and contracts, and a few clicks take up slack later. Nemtek lists it for any type of electric fence wire, and the silver 5kg spring is the class Alectra supplies in its fence kits.
Made for a live fence
Stainless steel spring, a UV stabilised plastic inner that Nemtek says eliminates galvanic reaction between dissimilar metals and reduces rust, and a glass filled nylon spindle. Rated -40°C to +80°C and 0 to 12kV, 22g each, so a pack of 50 weighs about 1.1kg. Silver is the spring colour code: the body is black.
