Introduction

Alectra Solutions ("we", "our" or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you visit alectra.co.za, buy from us or contact us. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect

  • Name and contact details (email address, phone number, delivery and billing address)
  • Account details (your email address and account settings)
  • Order history, including what you buy, return or cancel
  • Payment details. Card payments are processed by Yoco, and we do not see or store your full card number.
  • Trade account application details (for business customers), such as business name, registration, VAT or ID number and addresses
  • Messages you send us through our forms, email or WhatsApp
  • Device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit, collected with cookies and similar technologies

How we use your information

  • To process and fulfil your orders, including courier delivery and branch collection
  • To send order confirmations, collection notices and shipping updates
  • To provide customer support
  • To review trade account applications and show approved trade pricing
  • To send marketing messages, only with your consent
  • To improve our website and measure our advertising
  • To prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed:

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store and processes store data for us
  • Yoco, for card payments
  • The Courier Guy, to deliver your parcel
  • Google and Meta, for website analytics and advertising measurement, where you allow cookies
  • Centurion Systems: trade account details and Centurion Systems product sales data may be shared with Centurion Systems, the manufacturer, for sales-channel reporting
  • Authorities or other parties where the law requires it, or to protect our rights
  • A buyer or successor in the event of a merger, sale or acquisition of our business

Some of these service providers store information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on providers that are bound by laws or agreements offering adequate protection, as POPIA requires.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including secure HTTPS connections and payment processing through a certified payment provider. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as tax, accounting and consumer protection laws require.

Your rights under POPIA

  • Access: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information
  • Objection: object to us processing your personal information
  • Withdraw consent: stop marketing messages at any time, using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us
  • Complaint: lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

To use any of these rights, including closing your account, email global@alectra.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first. Order records are kept in anonymised form where tax and consumer protection laws require us to keep them.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and measure our advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although parts of the site, such as the cart, may then stop working.

Children

Our services are not aimed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date.
