A bag of 100 Nemtek 6mm aluminium electric fence ferrules, the crimp sleeve Nemtek specifies for joining its 1.6mm aluminium fence wire. Slide the two wire ends into the ferrule, crimp it, and you have a permanent joint that carries the fence pulse without a twist or a knot. Nemtek sells these as the EA-F6AFT bag of 100, so you are getting the manufacturer's own pack, not a repack. They are the aluminium ferrule only: galvanised and stainless steel wire take different ferrules, which we cover below.
What's in the bag
- 100 Nemtek 6mm aluminium ferrules (EA-F6AFT)
Which wire do these ferrules suit?
Nemtek matches the ferrule metal to the wire metal. The 6mm aluminium ferrule is for 1.6mm aluminium wire, so use it with the 500m or 1000m rolls of Nemtek 1.6mm stranded aluminium wire and with the 1.6mm solid aluminium alloy wire. For 1.2mm galvanised wire Nemtek makes a 6mm tinned copper ferrule (EA-F6S), and for stainless steel wire a 304 stainless ferrule (EA-F6S/SS). If you are joining galvanised or stainless steel wire and do not have the matching ferrule, the Nemtek 6mm bolt-type line clamp takes fence wire up to 1.6mm.
A permanent joint, so crimp it once and properly
Nemtek describes the ferrule joint as permanent: it cannot be removed once installed. That is the point of it. A strand that is tensioned and left alone for years needs a joint that will not work loose. Crimp with Nemtek's Professional Crimping Tool (TL-CRP), which has a 6mm ferrule position. If a joint ever has to change, cut the ferrule out and crimp a new one.
Where ferrules go on a fence
Anywhere two ends of 1.6mm aluminium wire meet: joining rolls mid-run, and closing the loop where a strand ends at a bobbin or a Nemtek compression spring. On a fence run from a Nemtek Merlin Stealth M18S or M28S energizer with aluminium wire, a bag of 100 covers the joins on a typical boundary and leaves spares for repairs.
Key features
- Made for 1.6mm aluminium wire. Nemtek specifies the 6mm aluminium ferrule for its 1.6mm stranded and solid aluminium fence wire.
- Permanent crimp joint. Once crimped the ferrule cannot be removed, so the joint stays put for the life of the strand.
- Nemtek's own bag of 100. This is the EA-F6AFT bag as Nemtek packs it, not a repack.
- Crimps with the Nemtek TL-CRP tool. Nemtek's Professional Crimping Tool has a 6mm ferrule position for these.
- Aluminium on aluminium. Nemtek matches ferrule metal to wire metal. It makes tinned copper ferrules for galvanised wire and 304 stainless ferrules for stainless wire.
- No twisted joints. Instead of twisting wire ends together, the two ends sit inside one crimped sleeve.

No. 6mm is the ferrule size. Nemtek uses this ferrule with its 1.6mm aluminium wire.
Nemtek's Professional Crimping Tool (TL-CRP) has a 6mm position for these ferrules. Nemtek does not say that other crimpers are suitable, so we do not claim that any tool will do.
No. Nemtek describes it as a permanent joint that cannot be removed once installed. To change it, cut the ferrule out and crimp a new one.
