One Nemtek Hybrid Compression Spring 2, the gold 8kg spring with a built-in ratchet, sold singly for repairs or a single line. It is two parts of an electric fence tensioner in one: the compression spring that keeps a constant pull on the strand, and a ratchet spindle you tighten with a 1/4 inch ratchet to take up slack. Gold is Nemtek's medium 8kg tension class, rated for 1.2mm galvanised and stainless steel wire and for 1.6mm aluminium wire. For a new fence, the 50 pack is on its own page.

Spring and ratchet in one
With a plain compression spring you pull the wire tight by hand and fix it. The hybrid adds a glass-filled nylon spindle that you turn with a 1/4 inch ratchet, so you wind the strand tight and can come back later to take up slack. The spring then holds constant tension between visits. Link it to the end bobbin with a Nemtek large tail hook.
Which wire it suits
Nemtek rates the Hybrid Compression Spring 2 for up to 1.2mm galvanised and stainless steel wire and up to 1.6mm aluminium wire, and it is the spring Nemtek pairs with its 1.6mm aluminium wire: the 500m and 1000m stranded rolls and the solid aluminium alloy wire. It also suits 1.2mm galvanised and 1.2mm stainless steel wire where you want more pull than the 5kg silver spring.
Gold is a tension class, not a grade
Gold is not a higher grade of the same spring. It is Nemtek's colour code for the medium 8kg spring, as silver is for the standard 5kg. The 5kg version with a ratchet is the Hybrid Compression Spring 1.
Nylon inner, wide temperature range
The nylon inner between spring and wire stops galvanic reaction. Nemtek rates the unit for -40 to 80°C and fence voltages from 0 to 12kV, and lists its weight at 0.023kg.
