This is surfix cable 2.5mm: round, white, 2 core and earth, sold per metre. It is the bigger of our two surfix sizes, and 2.5mm is the size often used for plug point circuits in SA homes. For lighting circuits, 1.5mm is the size more often used: see surfix 1.5mm (round) or flat twin and earth 1.5mm (flat). The price is per metre and the quantity box is the number of metres.

Surfix cable 2.5mm for plug point circuits

Plug point circuits in SA homes are often wired in 2.5mm cable. Your electrician may still choose a different size for a particular circuit, so confirm with them before you order. Need the plug sockets as well? We sell the 4x4 double plug socket and the 4x4 combination plug socket.

1.5mm or 2.5mm surfix?

The number is the cable size. 1.5mm is often used for lighting circuits and 2.5mm for plug point circuits. The electrician decides the size for each circuit, and asking before you buy saves you a second trip for the right cable.

Round surfix or flat twin and earth?

Surfix is round and flat twin and earth is flat. Both are 2 core and earth fixed wiring cable. Our flat twin and earth comes in 1.5mm, so in 2.5mm this round surfix is the one to order.

Ordering and installation

The price is per metre. Type the number of metres into the quantity box: 50 in the box means 50 metres. In South Africa, fixed wiring must be installed by a registered electrician, who issues a Certificate of Compliance (CoC). Alectra Solutions supplies the cable only.
