This 25mm conduit pipe is rigid PVC electrical conduit in a 4m length. What sets it apart from our 20mm PVC conduit pipe is the wider bore: there is more room inside for thicker cables, or for more wires in one run. Use it with 25mm couplings, bends and junction boxes. The 20mm couplings and junction boxes on our site will not fit it.
When to choose 25mm conduit pipe over 20mm
Choose 25mm when a run has to carry a thicker cable, or when several circuits share one pipe and 20mm would be too tight. The extra space makes the wires easier to pull through and can leave room to add a circuit later. Where 20mm has enough room, the 20mm pipe is the simpler choice, because it matches our 20mm couplings and round junction boxes. Your electrician decides the size of each run.
Fittings for a 25mm run
Everything on the run must be 25mm: couplings to join lengths, bends for changes of direction and boxes with 25mm entries. Couplings are push fit, or glued with PVC solvent cement for a firm joint. Cut the pipe with a hacksaw and clean the burr off the end so it cannot damage the wire insulation.
How many 4m lengths do you need?
Add up all your runs, divide by 4m and round up, with a little extra for offcuts. For example, 30m of runs needs eight 4m lengths.
Fitted by a registered electrician
Conduit and the wiring in it are part of the fixed wiring of a building. In South Africa that work must be done by a registered electrician, who issues a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) when the job is done. Alectra Solutions supplies the conduit only.
