The JVA Nite Lite is a small sealed fence light that flashes every time the energizer pulses, so anyone at the gate or on the pavement can see the electric fence is live. This is the red version. Red reads as a warning from a distance, which makes it the usual pick for a street-facing wall or a gate. It needs no battery and no power lead: it runs off the fence itself, with one stainless steel lead to a live wire and the other to earth. Each Nite Lite costs about 0.3kV of fence voltage. The same light also comes as the JVA Nite Lite in blue.
What's in the box
- 1 JVA Nite Lite, red, with two stainless steel leads attached
How the electric fence flashing light connects
The lead marked "+" goes to a live fence wire and the other lead goes to an earth wire. Fix each lead to the wire with a line clamp or a crimp ferrule so it cannot work loose. That is the whole installation: there is no cable back to the energizer and nothing to charge or replace. Because it only flashes when a pulse reaches it, it also tells you at a glance that the fence is on. If it goes dark, the fence is off or that section has lost its voltage.
Allow for the voltage drop
Every Nite Lite takes about 0.3kV off the fence. One or two on a home fence make little difference, but if you fit several, add up the drop and have the installer check the fence voltage afterwards. It is wired to the fence, not to the energizer, so it is not tied to a brand: it goes on fences run by the Nemtek Merlin Stealth M18S, the Nemtek Wizord 4i, the Nemtek Druid 15 LCD and the DTS Megashock 5.
Where to fit it
Put it where people approach the fence: next to the gate, at a pedestrian entrance or on the corner of the wall facing the road. Alectra supplies the equipment only. The fence must be installed and certified by a registered electric fence installer. The light itself is supply only.
Key features
- Flashes with the fence. The Nite Lite lights up on every pulse from the energizer, so a flashing light means a live fence.
- No batteries, no power lead. It draws what it needs from the fence pulse. Nothing to charge, nothing to replace.
- Two stainless steel leads. One lead to a live wire, one to earth. Fix them with a line clamp or a crimp ferrule.
- Small voltage drop. Expect about 0.3kV less on the fence for each Nite Lite you fit.
- A quick fence check. If the light stops flashing, the fence is off or that section has lost voltage.
- Red for warning. Red reads as danger from a distance, which is why most people fit it at the gate and on the road side.
- Not tied to an energizer brand. It connects to the fence wires, so it works on fences run by Nemtek, DTS and other security energizers.

Questions people ask
No. It runs off the fence pulse. One lead goes to a live wire and the other to earth, and it flashes every time the energizer fires.
The lead marked "+" goes to a live fence wire and the other lead goes to an earth wire. Secure each lead with a line clamp or a crimp ferrule.
Yes, by about 0.3kV per light. If you fit several lights, add up the drop and have the fence voltage checked afterwards.
It is fitted to the fence wires, not to the energizer, so it is not tied to a brand. We pair it with the Nemtek Merlin Stealth, Wizord 4i and Druid 15 LCD and with the DTS Megashock 5.
Only the colour. Both flash with the fence, both have stainless steel leads and both drop the fence voltage by about 0.3kV.
Where people approach the fence: next to the gate, at a pedestrian entrance or on the road-facing corner of the wall. It is a sign that the fence is live, so make it easy to see.
The fence carries high voltage, so leave the fitting to your registered electric fence installer. Alectra supplies the light only.
