This is the 6 line electric fence bracket in the straight pattern: a black square tube that stands upright, in line with the wall, with six bobbins fitted, one per line. It is the shorter partner to the 8 line straight bracket, for a six strand wall-top fence. If you want the lines to lean out over the wall, see the 6 line bottom bend; if you want it upright with a short kick at the top, the 6 line top bend. Some people call it a 6 wire bracket.

Straight, top bend or bottom bend?

All our 6 line square tube brackets come in three patterns. The straight bracket stands upright and keeps the fence in line with the wall. The top bend runs straight with a short bend at the top. The bottom bend bends near the base, so the whole line section leans out over the wall. Our 6 line 20m fence kit comes with nine of these brackets in the bend you choose.

Fixing it to the wall

Fixings are not included. On brick and concrete our kits put these brackets up with 8 x 80mm nail-in anchors; on a steel post or frame use tek screws. At corners, ends, steps in the wall and gate posts, brace the bracket with the 750mm stay with sleeve and screws so the wire tension cannot pull it over.

Bobbins fitted

Six stepped bobbins come fitted, so there are no insulators to buy or fit. If one gets damaged later, we sell the flat bar bobbin insulator singly as a replacement.

Rules to know before you buy

In South Africa an electric fence must be installed and certified by a registered electric fence installer, who issues the certificate of compliance. Alectra supplies the equipment only. A fence on top of a wall must stand at least 1.5m above the ground, warning signs go at every gate and access point and no more than 10m apart, and angled brackets are fixed on the inside of the boundary wall, with the neighbour's consent if they lean into their property.

Pairs well with

For a home fence run it from the Nemtek Wizord 4i energizer; for a bigger property the Nemtek Merlin Stealth M18S. String it with 1.6mm aluminium fence wire and tension each line with a gold 8kg spring tensioner. Prefer a round rod to a tube? See the 6 line round bar bracket.

Questions people ask
What is the difference between the 6 line and the 8 line bracket?

The number of lines. The 6 line bracket carries six wires; the 8 line bracket carries eight and stands taller above the wall. Both are the same black square tube with the bobbins fitted.

Straight, top bend or bottom bend: which do I need?

The straight bracket stands upright in line with the wall. The top bend is straight with a short bend at the top. The bottom bend bends near the base so all the lines lean out over the wall. Angled brackets go on the inside of the boundary wall, so if the neighbour has not agreed to an overhang, the straight bracket is the safe choice.

Do the bobbins come fitted?

Yes, six stepped bobbins are fitted. If one is damaged later, we sell the flat bar bobbin insulator singly as a replacement.

What do I fix it to the wall with?

Fixings are not included. Our kits use 8 x 80mm nail-in anchors on brick and concrete. On steel posts and frames use tek screws.

How far apart do the brackets go?

A common guide is no more than 3m between brackets. Our 6 line 20m kit spaces nine brackets over 20m, which is 2.5m apart, and every corner, end, step and gate post gets its own bracket braced with a stay.

Is a 6 wire bracket the same as a 6 line electric fence bracket?

Yes. Line and wire mean the same thing here: one live or earth strand of the fence. We use line in the title because that is what most people search for.

Can I fit the brackets myself?

You can buy the parts, but the fence must be installed and certified by a registered electric fence installer, who issues the certificate of compliance. Alectra supplies the equipment only.

Need it fitted? Alectra Solutions supplies product only. Ask the branch and we will point you to installers in Pretoria.
