This is the Gemini Slider 7Ah sliding gate motor kit without rack. In the box you get the 12V DC motor, a 12V 8Ah battery and two Gemini 3-button remotes. It suits home gates up to 500kg, moves the gate at 26 m/min and is rated for 150 openings a day. What the Gemini Slider 7Ah does

The motor sits on its base plate next to the gate and drives it along the rack through a 23:1 oil-filled gearbox. Gemini rates it for sliding gates up to 500kg, on condition that the gate runs on 80mm roller-bearing wheels. Starting pull is 30 kgf and rated pull is 17 kgf, with a soft start and soft stop. With the battery in place, the gate still works when the power goes off, for as long as the battery has charge.

7Ah or 12Ah: which Gemini slider?

Both Gemini 12V sliders have the same 500kg limit, the same 26 m/min speed and the same 30 kgf and 17 kgf pull figures. Gemini lists only two differences: the battery and the daily rating. This 7Ah model is rated for 150 openings a day, which covers a normal family home. The 12Ah model is rated for 200 openings a day and has the bigger battery, so Gemini recommends it for higher traffic or where you want more backup.

Rack, beams and other add-ons

Rack is not in this box, because the length depends on your gate. Steel or nylon rack can be used, and Alectra sells the Gemini 2m steel rack. Add Gemini infrared wireless beams for safety, because the collision sensing only reverses the gate while it is closing. The Gemini anti-theft bracket fits over the override lever, a Gemlink Lite smart device lets you work the gate from your phone, and extra Gemini 3-button remotes code in to the same receiver. The 7Ah slider also comes as a solar kit and a full solar kit.

Battery, warranty and fitting

The box now ships with a 12V 8Ah battery. When it needs replacing, a 12V 7Ah or 7.2Ah battery also works, such as the Gemini 12V 7.2Ah battery. Gemini gives 24 months on mechanical parts and 12 months on electrical parts, and batteries are not covered. The Gemini 12V slider manual and the 7Ah spec sheet are linked on this page. Alectra Solutions supplies the equipment only, so have the motor fitted by your own gate installer.

Is there rack on your gate already?

Rack is not part of this kit, because the length depends on the gate: a 4m gate needs 4m of rack. If your gate has no rack yet, look at the Gemini kits that come with a 4m rack.

Why is it called 7Ah when the battery is 8Ah?

7Ah is Gemini's model name for this slider. The box now ships with a 12V 8Ah battery, and a 12V 7Ah or 7.2Ah battery still works as a replacement.

Should I buy the 7Ah or the 12Ah Gemini slider?

Both have the same 500kg limit, speed and pull force. The 7Ah is rated for 150 openings a day. The 12Ah is rated for 200 a day and has a bigger battery, so pick it for a busy gate or if you want more backup.

Does this kit include the rack?

No. It suits a gate that already has rack in good condition. For a bare gate, choose the Gemini 7Ah kit with 4m steel rack, or the kit with rack and anti-theft bracket. Steel or nylon rack can be used.

Will the gate stop if it hits a car or a pet?

Gemini's collision sensing reverses the gate only while it is closing. Infrared safety beams across the opening add a second check before the gate closes, so they are worth fitting.

Can I run the Gemini 7Ah on solar?

Yes, with Gemini's solar kit. Alongside the solar kit you also need the solar-compatible Gemini 12V power supply, the cables and an MC4 connector set.

How do I open the gate if the battery is flat?

Unlock the override lever with the key and release the motor, then slide the gate by hand. Lock it again once the power is back.

What warranty does Gemini give?

24 months on mechanical parts and 12 months on electrical parts. Batteries are not covered.
