This is the Gemini Slider 12Ah sliding gate motor kit without rack: the 12V DC motor, a 12V 12Ah battery and two Gemini 3-button remotes. It is Gemini's heavy residential model, rated for 200 openings a day on gates up to 500kg, at 26 m/min. Gemini recommends it over the 7Ah model for higher traffic or more backup. If your gate has no rack yet, look at the 12Ah kit with 4m steel rack or the 12Ah kit with rack and anti-theft bracket.
What the Gemini Slider 12Ah does
The motor sits on its base plate next to the gate and drives it along the rack through a 23:1 oil-filled gearbox. Gemini rates it for sliding gates up to 500kg, on condition that the gate runs on 80mm roller-bearing wheels. Starting pull is 30 kgf and rated pull is 17 kgf. It is rated for 200 openings a day at a 75% duty cycle, with a soft start and soft stop. With the 12Ah battery in place, the gate still works when the power goes off, for as long as the battery has charge.
12Ah or 7Ah: which Gemini slider?
The two Gemini 12V sliders share the same 500kg limit, the same 26 m/min speed and the same pull figures. Gemini lists only two differences: the battery and the daily rating. The 7Ah model is rated for 150 openings a day and now ships with a 12V 8Ah battery. This 12Ah model is rated for 200 a day and carries a 12V 12Ah battery, which is why Gemini puts it forward for busier gates or where you want more backup.
Running it on solar
The slider can run on solar with Gemini's solar kit. Alongside that kit you also need the solar-compatible Gemini 12V power supply, the cables and an MC4 connector set.
Rack, beams and other add-ons
Rack is not in this box, because the length depends on your gate. Steel or nylon rack can be used, and Alectra sells the Gemini 2m steel rack. Add Gemini infrared wireless beams for safety, because the collision sensing only reverses the gate while it is closing. The Gemini anti-theft bracket fits over the override lever, a Gemlink Lite smart device lets you work the gate from your phone, and extra Gemini 3-button remotes code in to the same receiver.
Warranty and fitting
Gemini gives 24 months on mechanical parts and 12 months on electrical parts, and batteries are not covered. The Gemini 12V slider manual and the 12Ah spec sheet are linked on this page. Alectra Solutions supplies the equipment only, so have the motor fitted by your own gate installer.
Rack is not part of this kit, because the length depends on the gate: a 4m gate needs 4m of rack. If your gate has no rack yet, look at the Gemini kits that come with a 4m rack.
