This is the solar camera with a SIM card slot, for places with no WiFi and no mains power, such as a farm gate, a building site or a holiday house. Put in a 4G SIM card (not included) and the camera sends live video and alerts over the cellular network, so WiFi is not needed. A separate solar panel keeps its battery of about 8000mAh charged. The head pans 355 degrees and tilts 90 degrees, a PIR sensor picks up movement, and IR plus white LEDs give night vision, in colour when the white LEDs are on. You view it in the V380 Pro app.

4G, WiFi or plug-in: which camera do you need?
Choose this 4G camera when there is no WiFi at the spot. If your WiFi does reach it, the solar WiFi PTZ security camera also pans and tilts and runs on a solar panel, without a SIM or data to pay for. The solar WiFi bullet camera is a fixed solar camera for WiFi, and the dual lens solar PTZ camera, the dual lens solar WiFi PTZ camera and the solar triple lens camera give two or three views at once on WiFi. Where there is a plug point, the outdoor WiFi PTZ camera with auto tracking runs on the mains.
The SIM card and signal
The camera needs a 4G SIM card with data, bought separately from your network. It only works where that network has 4G coverage at the camera spot, and the 4G bands it supports are not stated, so as a first check test the signal at the spot on a phone with a SIM from the same network. Live viewing and cloud recording use data on the SIM, so keep it topped up.
Solar panel, pan and tilt and night vision
The solar panel mounts separately from the camera, so it can be angled at the sun, usually facing north in South Africa. It charges the built-in battery of about 8000mAh. No standby time is stated, so how long the camera keeps going through cloudy days depends on the sun the panel gets. From the V380 Pro app you pan the head 355 degrees and tilt it 90 degrees, watch live, talk through the two-way audio and get PIR motion alerts. At night the IR LEDs give a black and white picture; with the white LEDs on, the picture is in colour.
Recording and mounting
Recordings go to a microSD card (not included) or to cloud storage in the V380 Pro app; check the app for the cloud plans and what they cost. Alectra supplies the equipment only: mounting and app setup are done by you or your installer.
