This 2 way junction box is the straight-through one: its two 20mm conduit entries sit opposite each other, so the conduit comes in one side and carries straight on out the other. Use it on a straight run of 20mm PVC conduit pipe where the wires need a pull-through point or a join. At the end of a run you need the 1 way round end box, and where a branch leaves the run at 90 degrees, the 3 way tee junction box.
What a 2 way junction box is used for
Pulling wires through a long run of conduit in one go is hard work. A through box partway along gives the electrician a place to open up, pull the wires through and feed them on to the next section. It is also the right spot for a join in the wiring, because a join needs to sit in a box that can be opened again later, not hidden inside the pipe.
Round lid with 2 screws
The round lid covers the whole box and fixes down with 2 screws on opposite sides. Undo the two screws and the lid comes off, so the wiring inside can be checked or added to later without cutting into the conduit. Mount the box where you can still get to it once the wall or ceiling is finished.
Planning a 20mm conduit run
Every fitting on the run should be 20mm. Join lengths of pipe with a 20mm PVC coupling, push fit or glued with PVC solvent cement. As a rule of thumb: a 1 way end box where a run stops, a 2 way through box on the straight sections and a 3 way tee where the run splits. Conduit, boxes and the wiring inside them are fixed wiring, so in South Africa the work must be done by a registered electrician, who issues a Certificate of Compliance (CoC). Alectra Solutions supplies the equipment only.

Questions people ask
A 2 way junction box has two entries opposite each other for a straight run. A 3 way box adds a third entry at 90 degrees, so a branch can leave the run. A 1 way box has a single entry and closes off the end of a run.
No. The two entries are in a straight line, so the conduit goes in one side and out the other. To change direction, use a 20mm conduit bend, or the 3 way tee box where a branch leaves the run.
No. The entries are for 20mm conduit. A 25mm run needs 25mm fittings.
Yes. The round lid fixes onto the box with 2 screws.
Junction boxes are part of the fixed wiring, so a registered electrician must do the work and issue a Certificate of Compliance (CoC). Alectra supplies the box only.
