This 65kg torsion spring is marked with a blue and white stripe, which sets it apart from the plain blue 60kg just below it. One step heavier is the 70kg with the white stripe. You get one spring for a sectional garage door, left-wound or right-wound. It is the same spring as the 65kg option on our all-weights torsion page, where every one of our garage door springs is listed together.
Where the 65kg sits among our garage door springs
The 65kg is in the middle of our range, a step above the 60kg for heavier single or double sectional doors. A 5kg step does not sound like much, but a spring that is too light or too heavy leaves the door out of balance. That makes it hard to lift by hand and harder on a garage door motor. Match the kg and wind of your old spring, or ask your installer if the old one is missing.
Blue and white stripe
The 65kg carries a two-colour stripe, blue and white. Other suppliers mark their 65kg springs differently, so treat the colour as our supplier's code, not an industry standard. Like the single-colour stripes, it runs along the coils and helps the installer count turns while winding.
Left-wound or right-wound?
Torsion springs come wound in one of two directions, and the two are not interchangeable. Choose Left or Right in the variant picker to match the spring you are replacing. If you cannot tell which way your old spring is wound, ask your garage door installer to check before you order.
Who should fit it
Garage door springs, cables, drums and brackets are all under high tension, so spring and cable work should be done by an experienced garage door installer. Alectra Solutions supplies the equipment only. If your installer finds worn parts while the spring is off, we also supply lifting cables for torsion doors, the left and right cable drums and the centre bearing plate.
