The 60kg torsion spring is the one with the plain blue stripe. It sits between the 50kg (beige) and the 65kg (blue and white), so look closely at the stripe: plain blue is the 60kg. Each order line is one spring for a sectional garage door, left-wound or right-wound. Like all our garage door springs, it is also listed as an option on the page with every weight.
60kg or 65kg: telling the blue garage door springs apart
The 60kg and the 65kg sit close together and both have blue in the stripe. The 60kg is plain blue; the 65kg is blue and white. Both are springs for heavier single or double sectional doors, so getting the right one comes down to matching the spring you are replacing. If the stripe on your old spring has faded and you cannot tell, your installer can confirm the weight before you order.
The blue stripe
Blue is our supplier's code for 60kg. It is a supplier code, not an industry standard, so a 60kg spring bought elsewhere may carry a different colour. Painted along the coils, the stripe also helps the installer count the turns while the spring is wound.
Getting the wind right
Weight is only half the order. Torsion springs are left-wound or right-wound, and a spring wound the wrong way will not do the job. Pick Left or Right to match the spring coming off the door. If you are unsure, have your installer look at it first.
Fitting and the parts around it
This is not a DIY job. The spring, cables, drums and brackets are all under high tension, and spring and cable work should be done by an experienced garage door installer. Alectra Solutions supplies the parts only. The spring anchors to the centre bearing plate, and the shaft it turns carries the cable drums that wind the lifting cables.
