This is a 10m network cable from Andowl: CAT6 cable, model QC6000, sold as 10m (1000cm) of loose cable with no plugs fitted. Cut it to the length you need and fit an RJ45 plug on each end to connect an IP camera, NVR, router or computer. The cores are CCA (copper clad aluminium), not pure copper. Need more than a few short runs? The 305m CAT6 roll is CCA network cable on a reel.
Where a 10m network cable fits in
10m covers a short run: a router to a computer across a room, a recorder to the router in the same cupboard, or a camera on a wall to the equipment just inside. Ethernet allows up to 100m per link with any cable, so a 10m run is well inside that. The Andowl box lists laptops, computers, modems, network printers, switches and game consoles among its uses.
No plugs fitted: what you need to finish it
The cable comes with bare ends. To make it into a patch lead or a camera cable:
- Cut it to length and strip the outer jacket.
- Fit an RJ45 plug at each end with an RJ45 crimping tool, using the same colour order at both ends (T568B is the usual one).
- Test it with a network tester before you mount the camera or close up the trunking.
RJ45 plugs, the crimper and the tester are not included.
CCA, not pure copper
CCA stands for copper clad aluminium: an aluminium core with a copper outer layer. It costs less than pure copper, but it has a higher resistance and the cores are more brittle, so do not nick them when you strip the cable and avoid tight bends. The standards for category cable call for copper conductors, so CAT6 here is the type of cable printed on the box, not a certification. Cable makers also say CCA is not suitable for PoE, because the cores heat up under load. For PoE IP cameras, use pure copper cable.
Using it for analogue CCTV with baluns
With a pair of passive video baluns, network cable carries the picture from a TVI, CVI or AHD camera to a DVR such as the HiLook 4 channel Turbo HD DVR. The baluns carry video only, so the camera still needs its own 12V supply. Alectra supplies the cable only; your installer fits and terminates the system.

Questions people ask
No. It is loose cable with no plugs fitted. Cut it to length and fit an RJ45 plug at each end with an RJ45 crimping tool.
No. The cores are CCA, copper clad aluminium: an aluminium core with a copper outer layer.
Cable makers say CCA is not suitable for PoE, because the cores heat up under load. For PoE IP cameras, use pure copper network cable.
Yes, with a pair of passive video baluns on the run. The baluns carry video only, so the camera still needs its own 12V supply. For video and power in one cable, use RG59 cable with power.
Ethernet allows up to 100m per link, whatever the cable. This is 10m, so length is not a problem. For longer runs, see the 305m CAT6 roll and read its notes on CCA and run length.
Andowl. The box is marked Andowl CAT6 QC6000, Network Cable 1000CM.
