A 100m roll of Nemtek A-Series HT cable, Nemtek code EH-AS100: a single core of solid 1.6mm aluminium inside a double insulated, UV stabilised black sheath. Nemtek designs the A-Series for fences strung with aluminium wire, such as our 1.6mm aluminium stranded wire and solid aluminium alloy wire, and for use with galvanised earth spikes. Like all HT cable it is the insulated lead-out: it carries the energizer's pulse from the fence terminal to the first live wire, takes the earth terminal to the earth spike and jumps the feed between fence sections.

Which Nemtek HT cable do you need?

Match the cable to the fence wire. For a fence in aluminium wire, this A-Series cable is the one Nemtek makes for the job. For galvanised or stainless steel wire, Nemtek's S-Series slimline cable has a stranded tinned copper core; we list it in 30m, 50m and 100m rolls. Whichever you choose, add up the run from the energizer to the first live wire, the run to the earth spike and every jumper, then allow spare.

Solid aluminium core, low resistance

The conductor is a single solid 1.6mm aluminium wire. Nemtek points to its low electrical resistance, which cuts the power and voltage lost over a long lead-out. The double insulated sheath is UV stabilised, so the cable can run exposed along the top of a wall and down to the earth spike. Nemtek also makes the A-Series as a 3-core cable and in other roll lengths; we list the 100m single core in black. For runs under a gate or driveway, Nemtek sells a separate U-Series Undergate HT cable; ask the branch before burying any lead-out.

What goes with it

Join the cable to the fence wire with a Nemtek 6mm bolt-type line clamp, and join aluminium wire with Nemtek 6mm aluminium ferrules. Nemtek pairs the A-Series with galvanised earth spikes, so ask the branch about the earth spike for your fence. Nemtek's double pole lightning diverter sits in this cable run between the energizer and the fence, within 2m of the earth spike. Tidy the cable with 100mm cable ties. The fence must be installed and certified by a registered electric fence installer. Alectra supplies the equipment only.

Questions people ask
What is A-Series HT cable?

Nemtek's HT cable with a solid aluminium conductor, made for electric fences strung with aluminium wire. This roll is the 100m single core in black, Nemtek code EH-AS100.

How is it different from the slimline HT cable?

The slimline S-Series has a stranded tinned copper core and Nemtek lists it for galvanised wire. The A-Series has a solid 1.6mm aluminium core and Nemtek designs it for aluminium wire and galvanised earth spikes.

What is HT cable for on an electric fence?

It is the insulated lead-out: it carries the energizer's high voltage pulse from the fence terminal to the first live wire, and links the earth terminal to the earth spike, so the pulse reaches the fence without leaking to the wall, brackets or ground on the way.

Is 100m too much for a house?

For one short lead-out it may be. 100m suits an energizer mounted well away from the fence, a dual zone layout with two lead-outs and two earth runs, or a fence with many jumpers.

Can I run it underground or under a gate?

For runs under gates and driveways Nemtek sells a separate U-Series Undergate HT cable; ask the branch about it before burying any lead-out.

Which earth spike goes with it?

Nemtek designs the A-Series for use with galvanised earth spikes. Ask the branch about the right spike for your fence.

Do I need an installer?

Yes. An electric fence, including the energizer connection and the earthing, must be installed and certified by a registered electric fence installer. Alectra supplies the cable and fittings only.

Need it fitted? Alectra Solutions supplies product only. Ask the branch and we will point you to installers in Pretoria.
