The HiLook THC-B127-LPS is the HiLook dual light bullet: the only camera in this range with both infrared and a white light, and the only one with a built-in microphone. In Smart mode it watches on IR in black and white and switches its white light on when it picks up movement, so the clip of the event is in colour; you can also lock it to IR only or white light only. It is a 2MP 1080p Turbo HD camera with a 2.8mm lens in an IP66 housing, sending video and sound down one coax to a HiLook or Hikvision Turbo HD DVR. Alectra supplies the camera only.

What's in the box

  • 1 x HiLook THC-B127-LPS 2MP dual light bullet camera with built-in mic, 2.8mm lens, on its adjustable bracket

Hikvision's datasheet lists no other contents. The 12V power supply, RG59 cable, BNC and DC connectors and the DVR are sold separately.

Which HiLook camera do you need?

Take this one when you want the choice of IR or white light, or when you want sound. If IR night vision is all you need, the HiLook 2MP Turbo HD bullet is the simpler camera with no light and no mic. If you want colour at night all the time, the HiLook 2MP ColorVu bullet has a brighter F1.0 lens with white light only and no IR. Indoors, the HiLook 2MP indoor turret dome covers a room with IR.

HiLook dual light: three ways to light the night

The camera carries an IR illuminator and a white light, both rated by Hikvision at up to 20 metres, and offers three modes. Smart mode is the default: the camera records on IR, which is invisible, and brings the white light on when it detects movement in the picture, then drops back to IR when the scene is quiet, so you get colour footage of the event and a light that also tells the person they are on camera. IR mode gives black and white night vision with no visible light. White Light mode keeps the white light on so the picture stays in colour all night. Minimum illumination is 0.01 lux with the AGC on, and digital WDR, backlight and highlight compensation deal with gates, doorways and headlights.

Sound down the same coax

A microphone built into the camera picks up sound in a radius of up to 5 metres, and the audio travels down the coax together with the video, so there is no separate audio cable to run. The DVR must support audio over coax, which the HiLook DVRs we list do, including the HiLook 4 channel Turbo HD DVR and the HiLook 8 channel eSSD DVR. Audio recording is switched off by default on the HiLook eSSD DVRs, so your installer turns it on in the recording settings for that channel.

Connecting it to a DVR

The video output is 4-in-1: it can be set to TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to match the DVR channel. It does not work with an NVR and has no PoE. Power is 12V DC only at a maximum of 3.2W, and Hikvision recommends one 12V feed per camera rather than sharing one adapter between cameras; a multi-output Hikvision CCTV power supply gives each camera its own output. Run RG59 cable with a power pair, crimp a BNC connector on the video core and fit a DC connector on the power pair.

Where to mount it

The plastic housing is rated IP66 and works from -40°C to 60°C, so it goes on an outside wall, under an eave or on a pole. At 161 x 58 x 62mm and 164g it is a mini bullet, and the bracket pans 360°, tilts 180° and rotates 360°. The 2.8mm lens gives a 100° horizontal view. Point the white light where it will not shine into a neighbour's window. The system is installed by your installer; Alectra supplies the equipment only.

Key features
  • IR and white light in one camera. Both illuminators reach up to 20m, so you can have invisible black and white night vision or lit colour footage.
  • Smart mode by default. Records on IR and switches the white light on when it sees movement, then goes back to IR when the scene is quiet.
  • Built-in microphone. Picks up sound in a radius of up to 5m and sends it down the coax with the video to a DVR that supports audio over coax.
  • 1080p over coax. A 2MP CMOS sensor records 1920 x 1080 at 25 frames a second over RG59 to a Turbo HD DVR.
  • 4-in-1 output. Switchable TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS to match the DVR channel.
  • IP66 for outdoors. Plastic housing rated against dust and heavy rain, working from -40°C to 60°C.
  • DWDR, BLC and HLC. Digital WDR with backlight and highlight compensation for bright gates, doorways and headlights.
  • Wide 2.8mm lens. A 100° horizontal field of view covers a driveway or yard from one corner.

Questions people ask
What does dual light mean on a HiLook camera?

The camera has two illuminators, infrared and white light, each rated at up to 20 metres. You choose IR for invisible black and white night vision, white light for colour, or Smart mode, which uses IR until it detects movement and then switches the white light on.

Does the microphone need its own cable?

No. The sound is sent down the same coax as the video. Your DVR must support audio over coax, which the HiLook DVRs we sell do, and audio recording must be switched on for that channel.

Does it record in colour at night?

When the white light is on, yes. On IR the picture is black and white. In Smart mode you get black and white until something moves, then colour while the white light is on.

Does it work with an NVR?

No. It is an analogue HD camera over coax and needs a Turbo HD DVR. An NVR only takes network (IP) cameras.

Is the white light on all night?

Only in White Light mode. In Smart mode, the default, it comes on when the camera detects movement and goes off again when the scene is quiet. In IR mode it stays off.

How is this different from the HiLook ColorVu bullet?

The ColorVu bullet (THC-B129-P) has a brighter F1.0 lens and white light only, with no IR and no mic. This dual light camera has IR as well as white light, and a built-in microphone.

Is this the HiLook Smart Hybrid Light camera?

Yes. Hikvision describes the lighting as Smart Hybrid Light and lists this model as the 2MP Dual Light Audio Fixed Mini Bullet Camera, THC-B127-LPS. The LPS has the microphone; HiLook also makes an LPC version without one, which is not this listing.

Is a power supply or cable included?

No. The box holds the camera only. You need a 12V DC supply, RG59 cable with a power pair, a BNC connector and a DC connector, all sold separately.

Need it fitted? Alectra Solutions supplies product only. Ask the branch and we will point you to installers in Pretoria.
