A 12V DC red LED strobe light that flashes when your alarm panel, electric fence energizer or gate alarm switches its strobe output on. The red dome lens sits on a black base and measures 73mm across, so it is small enough for a wall, a gate pillar or the side of an energizer box, and bright enough to show a responder which house is alarming. It needs a switched 12V DC supply. Most energizers and alarm panels have a strobe output for exactly this, but check that your output can drive it before you wire it in. Pair the strobe light with one of our 12V sirens.

What's in the box

  • 1 LED strobe light, red lens on a black base

Which output do you connect it to?

Electric fence energizers have a strobe output that switches on when the fence alarms. The Nemtek Merlin Stealth M18S has two strobe outputs, the Merlin Stealth M28S has one per zone, and the Wizord 4i and Druid 15 LCD each have one. On most energizers the siren and strobe share one current limit: Nemtek allows 1.75A for both together on the Merlin Stealth. The maker of this strobe does not state its current draw, so if you are close to the limit, have your installer measure it or drive the strobe through a relay.

Gate motors and alarm panels

Some gate motor status outputs are only meant to drive a small indicator and will not run a strobe. Check the output rating in the motor's manual; where it is too low, a relay switched by that output can carry the 12V supply to the strobe. Alarm panels with a dedicated strobe or bell output are the simpler case: wire it to that output and set the panel to pulse or latch it as you prefer.

Siren and strobe together

A strobe shows which property is alarming; a siren makes people look. Fit the 12V 15W siren for a house or the 12V 40W rectangular horn for a large site, and mount the strobe where it can be seen from the road. Alectra supplies the equipment only. The fence must be installed and certified by a registered electric fence installer. For an alarm panel, use your alarm installer.

Key features
  • LED strobe. An LED flasher rather than a flash tube: no tube to burn out.
  • Red dome lens on a black base. The dome throws the flash in every direction, so it shows from the road and the driveway.
  • 73mm across. Small enough for a gate pillar, a wall or the side of an energizer box.
  • Switched 12V DC. Runs off the strobe output of an energizer, an alarm panel or a gate alarm.
  • Energizer ready. The Nemtek Merlin Stealth, Wizord 4i and Druid 15 LCD all have a strobe output for it.
  • CE and RoHS marked. Both marks are printed on the box.
  • Pairs with our 12V sirens. The 15W horn for a house, the 40W rectangular horn for a big site.

Questions people ask
Is the 12V strobe light LED or a flash tube?

LED. The box is marked LED strobe light, 12VDC, red, 73mm.

Can I run it off my electric fence energizer?

Yes. Energizers such as the Nemtek Merlin Stealth, Wizord 4i and Druid 15 LCD have a 12V strobe output that switches on when the fence alarms.

How much current does it draw?

The maker does not state it, so we do not quote a figure. Siren and strobe outputs on energizers are current limited, so have your installer check the output rating or measure the strobe before adding it to a loaded output.

Can I connect it to my gate motor?

Only if the motor's output is rated to drive it. Many status outputs are meant for a small indicator. Check the manual; if the output is too small, use a relay.

Is it weatherproof?

The box gives no IP rating, so we cannot quote one. If you mount it outside, choose a sheltered spot under an eave or a cover.

Does it come with a siren?

No. The 12V 15W and 40W sirens are sold separately and connect to the siren output.

How does it mount?

By its base, flat against a wall, pillar or box. Fixings are not included.
