This is the 45kg torsion spring with the green stripe, the lightest of the garage door springs we sell by weight. You get one spring for a sectional garage door, left-wound or right-wound. If the spring coming off your door is heavier, the next step up is the 50kg with the beige stripe. You can also compare all eight weights on one page. Our 100kg spring carries a green stripe too, so order by the kg figure, not the colour alone.
The lightest of our garage door springs
The 45kg is the start of our range and suits lighter single sectional doors. From there the weights climb through 50kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 80kg and 90kg up to the 100kg. The surest way to order is like for like: the same kg and the same wind as the spring you are taking off. If the old spring is missing or the stripe has worn off, let your installer work out what the door needs before you buy.
What the green stripe tells you
Green is our supplier's code for the 45kg spring, not an industry standard, so a 45kg spring from another supplier may look different. The stripe runs along the coils, which also helps the installer count turns while winding. One catch: the 100kg in our range is green as well, so if you are reordering a green spring, check the kg on your old invoice or with your installer.
Left-wound or right-wound?
Torsion springs come wound in one of two directions, and the two are not interchangeable. Choose Left or Right in the variant picker to match the spring you are replacing. If you cannot tell which way your old spring is wound, ask your garage door installer to check before you order.
Safety: leave spring work to an installer
A torsion spring stores a lot of energy, and the cables, drums and brackets it works with are under high tension too. Spring and cable work should be done by an experienced garage door installer. Alectra Solutions supplies the parts only. A spring change is also a good time to look at the lifting cables, the cable drums and the centre bearing plate the springs anchor to.

Yes. Each order line is one 45kg spring, left-wound or right-wound. If your door has two springs, order two, each with the same wind as the spring it replaces.
Order the same wind as the spring you are replacing. Left-wound and right-wound springs turn in opposite directions and cannot be swapped. If you cannot tell, ask your garage door installer to check before you order.
In our range both are green, so the colour alone will not tell you. Check the weight on your old order or have your installer confirm it. The 45kg is the light one for single doors; the 100kg is for heavy double or caravan-height doors.
