This PCB shaft encoder is the small pickup board in a DC sliding gate motor that reads the turning of the motor shaft, so the controller knows how far the gate has moved. It is a gate motor shaft encoder for DC sliders that use shaft encoding, and the board is only about 15 x 20 x 15mm and 2g. It is not a universal part: it fits one make of DC slider, so send us your gate motor make and model before you order and we will confirm the fit.
What a gate motor shaft encoder does
On a DC slider with shaft encoding, the encoder picks up the rotation of the motor shaft and passes it to the controller. From that count the controller knows how far the gate has travelled. The board itself is small, about 15 x 20 x 15mm, with three terminals for its wiring.
