Get a formal quoteThe Centurion Systems SmartGuard Air wireless keypad lets people open the gate by typing a code, with no cable between the keypad and the gate motor. It runs on two AA batteries, which are included, and sends its signal on 433MHz up to 30m line of sight. This listing is the keypad only. It needs a Centurion Systems code-hopping receiver, which is built into D-Series SMART, V-Series SMART and SDO5 SMART+ motors and the SECTOR II barrier, or you can add a NOVA receiver, sold separately. Want a keypad that is wired in and has its own relay? See the SmartGuard wired keypad.
What's in the box
- 1 x Centurion Systems SmartGuard Air wireless keypad, black
- 2 x AA alkaline batteries
- Mounting screws
No receiver is included. The keypad is packed with its power link on the 12V side to save the batteries, so your installer moves it to AA BATT when fitting it.
Which receiver does the SmartGuard Air wireless keypad need?
The SmartGuard Air works like a remote control: each code sends a code-hopping signal that a Centurion Systems receiver must learn first. Centurion Systems lists these as compatible: the onboard receiver in D-Series SMART sliding gate motors, such as the D5-Evo SMART, D6 SMART and D10 SMART Turbo; V-Series SMART swing gate motors, such as the Vantage SMART 500; the SDO5 SMART+ garage door motor; the SECTOR II traffic barrier; and external NOVA single and multichannel receivers. For a motor without one of these receivers, add a NOVA receiver, sold separately.
Codes, channels and security
The keypad stores up to 1000 codes of 1 to 10 digits, and each code works one of 15 channels, so one code can open the gate fully and another only the pedestrian opening. Channel 3 is the alarm channel. Limited-use codes delete themselves after 1 to 254 uses, which suits a garden service or an armed response company, and codes can be added or deleted one at a time. After a set number of wrong codes, the anti-hack feature shuts the keypad down for a set time. The keys light up when one is pressed, for use at night.
Batteries and power
Two AA alkaline batteries run the keypad for two to five years, depending on how often it is used. Use alkaline batteries only: Centurion Systems says rechargeable, NiMH and lithium-ion batteries cannot be used. When the batteries run low, the red LED flashes three times every four seconds and the key beep changes pitch. The keypad can also run from an external 12V DC supply, not more than 12V, but then it stops working in a power failure.
Mounting
The housing is black polycarbonate, rated IP55, 79.5mm wide, 38mm deep and 131.5mm high, and works from -18°C to +55°C. Fix it to a wall or gooseneck with the screws in the box, using only the mounting holes Centurion Systems shows so the screws do not touch the batteries, and seal the mountings with silicone. A 304 stainless steel anti-knock shield, an anti-tamper switch and a backup memory module are optional extras. The keypad is installed and paired by your installer; Alectra supplies the equipment only.

Questions people ask
No, this is the keypad only. It needs a Centurion Systems code-hopping receiver: the one built into a D-Series SMART, V-Series SMART or SDO5 SMART+ motor or a SECTOR II barrier, or a NOVA receiver, sold separately.
If your Centurion Systems motor is a D-Series SMART, V-Series SMART or SDO5 SMART+, the receiver is built in. For other motors, add a NOVA receiver. Ask the branch with your motor model if you are not sure.
Up to 30m on 433MHz. Centurion Systems gives this as a line of sight range.
Two AA alkaline batteries, which come with it. Do not fit rechargeable, NiMH or lithium-ion batteries; Centurion Systems says they cannot be used.
Two to five years, depending on how often it is used. When they run low, the red LED flashes three times every four seconds and the key beep changes pitch.
Yes. A limited-use code deletes itself after 1 to 254 uses, which suits a garden service or an armed response company.
The default master code is 1234, and Centurion Systems' manual shows how to reset it to 1234 at power-up. With the anti-default feature on, which is the factory setting, that reset breaks the pairing with the receiver, so the keypad must be paired again.
No. Alectra supplies the equipment only. Your installer mounts the keypad, sets the power link to the batteries and pairs it with the receiver.
