This listing is one left-hand garage door bottom bracket. It is the mirror image of the right-hand bottom bracket, so compare it with the bracket on your door before you order. The bracket fits at the bottom corner of a sectional garage door and does two jobs: it holds the bottom roller, and it carries the pin that the lifting cable hooks onto. Because the cable pulls on that pin, this bracket carries the spring load of the door. Never unbolt it while the springs are under tension.
What the bottom bracket holds
The bottom roller sits in the bracket and runs in the track, and the loop end of the lifting cable goes over the pin at the bottom. The nylon roller with steel stem is the roller we list with it, and on a torsion spring door the loop of the torsion lifting cable goes over the pin. The steel plate has round and slotted holes for fixing it to the bottom panel.
Safety: it carries the spring load
The lifting cable pulls on this bracket with the full force of the springs. If the bracket is unbolted, or its screws are loosened, while the springs are wound or stretched, the cable and bracket can let go suddenly and hurt someone. Spring, cable and bottom bracket work should be done by an experienced garage door installer. Alectra Solutions supplies the equipment only.
Single or double door, torsion or tension?
Bottom brackets are made in a single-door length and a longer double-door length, and the two are not interchangeable. Doors also differ in their springs: a torsion spring on a shaft above the door, or tension (extension) springs with pulleys. Measure the bracket on your door, note which springs it has, and ask us to confirm this bracket matches before you buy.
