Get a formal quoteThe Centurion Systems G-ULTRA is a 4G GSM controller that opens your gate from your phone and reports what the gate is doing. It has no intercom. Instead it has four channels, each set as an input or an output, plus two relays, so it can also switch lights or a pool pump and watch an alarm or the mains power. Up to 1500 phone numbers can use it, by missed call, keypad tones during a call, SMS or the MyCentsys Remote app, and the SIM comes with it from Centurion Systems. To talk to visitors at the gate as well, see the G-Speak Ultra 4G intercom kit.
What's in the box
- 1 x Centurion Systems G-ULTRA GSM unit (main unit with fascia and mounting plate)
- 1 x SIM from Centurion Systems, for use in this unit only
Mounting screws, wall anchors, a power supply and any extra relays are not included.
Ways to open the gate with the G-ULTRA GSM 4G controller
Once a number is added, the unit can be set up so that phone opens the gate in four ways: a missed call to the unit, which rejects the call and triggers the output; keypad tones during an answered call; an SMS command; or a tap in the MyCentsys Remote app. Each access profile sets which outputs a user may work and when, using weekly time windows and visitor windows between two dates. For a party or a function, Any Number Mode lets anyone who has the unit's number open the gate until you switch the mode off again.
Inputs, outputs and relays
The four channels are 50mA open collector, and as inputs they sense 0 to 24V DC. Wired to a Centurion Systems gate motor, the G-ULTRA can report the gate opening, closing, open and left standing open, a mains failure and a low battery. Other inputs can watch an alarm, an electric fence, mains power or a water reservoir and send a push notification, SMS or email. The two relays switch up to 1A at 30V AC/DC (resistive) with normally-open and normally-closed contacts. Latched outputs remember their state when the power is cycled. Centurion Systems notes that some uses need extra equipment such as high-voltage relays.
Power, mounting and setup
The G-ULTRA runs on 11 to 24V DC, up to 300mA at 12V, normally from the 12V or 24V gate motor controller. It watches its own supply and sends a push notification if the voltage drops too low, then shuts down to protect the battery. The unit is rated IP40, so mount it inside the gate motor housing or a dry enclosure, away from water, condensation, the DOSS sensor and the remote receiver. The antenna is internal; in a metal enclosure, an external antenna can be fitted to the SMA connector. Centurion Systems asks for a network coverage check at the site first, as poor coverage affects how it works. Setup is done on G-WEB by your installer; Alectra supplies the equipment only.
Key features
- Open the gate by phone. Missed call, keypad tones during a call, SMS or the MyCentsys Remote app.
- 4G with 2G fallback. Centurion Systems' current Quick Guide says it uses 4G whenever possible and 2G only as a fallback.
- SIM included. Centurion Systems supplies the SIM with the unit; it works only in this G-ULTRA.
- Four channels plus two relays. Each channel works as an input or a 50mA open collector output, and the two relays switch up to 1A at 30V.
- Gate status alerts. Push notifications when the gate is left open, the mains fails or the motor battery is low.
- 1500 users and access profiles. 20 access profiles and time-barring on access numbers, inputs and outputs.
- Any Number Mode. Let anyone with the unit's number in for an event, then switch it off again.
- Battery voltage monitoring. Warns when its supply voltage drops and shuts down to protect the battery.
- LCD screen. Shows signal strength, supply voltage, airtime, relay and gate status for quick fault-finding.

Questions people ask
Opening and monitoring a gate, garage door or traffic barrier from your phone, and switching or watching other devices such as lights, pumps, an alarm or an electric fence. Centurion Systems notes that some uses need extra relays.
Yes, this is the unit we used to list under that name. Centurion Systems calls it the G-ULTRA, a GSM device. It is not the SmartSwitch II, which is a security board for the SmartGuard keypad.
Yes. Centurion Systems' current Quick Guide says it uses 4G whenever possible and 2G only as a fallback.
No. Centurion Systems supplies the SIM, which works only in this G-ULTRA, and airtime is bought through G-WEB. The unit is not network-locked, but with another network's SIM the airtime and network access are no longer managed through G-WEB.
Centurion Systems' Quick Guide has wiring diagrams for its 24V and 12V D-Series and V-Series controllers, SMART and older, and the G-ULTRA is made for gate motors, traffic barriers and garage door motors. Other devices may need extra relays.
No. It is rated IP40, so it goes inside the gate motor housing or a dry enclosure, away from water and condensation.
Users open and monitor the gate with the MyCentsys Remote app. Your installer sets the unit up with G-WEB and MyCentsys Pro. The older G-Remote app is not available from Android 14 onwards.
No. Alectra supplies the equipment only. Centurion Systems says installation, repair and service work must be done by a suitably qualified person, so your installer wires it in and sets it up on G-WEB.
