Refill is most popular for 3kg, 5kg, 7kg and 9kg cylinders. Refill pricing matches the equivalent Exchange price for the same size. The only difference is the turnaround: Exchange is same-day with one of our pre-filled cylinders; Refill is 48 hours but you get your cylinder back.

A 9kg LP gas exchange at Alectra is R330 walk-in. This is for swapping your empty cylinder for a full one. Pay online when you reserve, in cash at the counter, or by card at the counter — your choice. Walking in saves you the delivery fee.
It depends on what you run on gas. For cooking on a hob only: typically 6–8 weeks per 9kg cylinder. Add a gas geyser or heater in winter and the same cylinder might last 3–5 weeks. Heavy users — gas oven plus heater plus geyser — typically refill every 2–3 weeks. Big braais use a surprising amount too. If you run out faster than expected, check your regulator and connections — could be a small leak. Our counter staff will check it for you.
Exchange — you bring an empty cylinder, we swap it for one of our pre-filled cylinders. Same day. Current 9kg price R330.
Buy a cylinder — for customers who don't have an empty to exchange (first-time gas buyers or those needing an extra cylinder). You buy a cylinder of your own — empty, or with gas already in it. From your next visit, you simply exchange it like everyone else.
Refill — we top up your own cylinder over 48 hours, then you collect the same cylinder back. Same price as Exchange — the difference is the turnaround (48 hours instead of same-day) and the cylinder (your own one back, not a swap).

Yes. You can pay online when you reserve (secure card payment), or settle at the counter with either cash or card. Whichever fits your day best.
If you don't have a cylinder to exchange, you can buy one. A 9kg empty cylinder at Alectra is R640. A 9kg cylinder with gas already in it (ready to use) is R970. After that first purchase, every future refill becomes a standard exchange at R330 — much cheaper. Call 074 512 4065 to confirm stock on the day.
Yes — LP gas powers hobs, ovens, geysers, indoor and outdoor heaters, braais, pizza ovens, even some pool heaters. The cylinder size you need depends on how often you use it: a 9kg works well for a single appliance, 19kg suits multiple appliances or daily use, and 48kg is for high-demand commercial or industrial setups.
